What is PrivateEquityBlogger.com? This blog is a resource for those who want to know more about private equity and professionals who just want to keep up with the industry. I have written over 400 educational articles on private equity in addition we provide videos, data, white papers and other free resources. I have tailored this to professionals and managers working in the industry as well as those looking to move into working with a private equity firm.
What is the Private Equity Investment Group? The Private Equity Investment Group is a 70,000 member-strong professional networking group that I co-founded three years ago. It was originally hosted through LinkedIn.com but we recently launched a new website which can be seen here. The PEIG developed and manages the Certified Private Equity Professional program.
What is the Certified Private Equity Professional program? The Certified Private Equity Professional program is a private equity training and certification program that may be completed by anyone 100% online in 3-6 months. I developed this program with the PEIG team, producing videos and resources for participants. I currently help manage the CPEP program: updating test and study materials; creating new resources; advising participants and other duties.
The program is limited to just 25 professionals per quarter, and after joining you can choose from one of four examination dates per year including: January 15th, April 15th, July 15th or October 15th. Who is Theo O'Brien? My day job is Managing Director at Richard Wilson Capital Partners, a third party marketing firm that is laser focused on connecting family offices to best-of-breed, institutional-quality fund managers.
Additionally, I am Vice President of Marketing at BusinessTraining.com which administers financial training programs including the Certified Hedge Fund Professional and Certified Private Equity Professional--both of which I helped create.
My responsibilities with these groups include advising the Certified Hedge Fund Professional program and helping to develop exclusive alternative investment tools for launching capital raising campaigns, improving business practices, career advancement, industry analysis and more. I specialize in market research on alternative investment trends, analysis and capital raising strategies. I also advise the Certified Private Equity Professional program and direct the marketing for InvestorDatabases.com and other investment firm directories.

How Do I Learn More About Private Equity? There are a number of ways to learn about this industry. I have collected 300 or so articles and edited them to form the Private Equity E-Book. This is a free MS Word-based collection of my writing and should give you a good foundation on most aspects of the industry. That said, the industry is constantly evolving and I update this blog every day with new educational articles and resources so you can keep up. I also recommend private equity-related books as I read them and post informative videos.
